Season 1, Episode 7—Ghost in the Machine

Mulder is asked by a former colleague to assist in the investigation of the murder of a technology company CEO who was inexplicably electrocuted by the building’s self-learning AI security system. The creator of the software, Brad Wilczek, admits fault after the tech rigs the elevator to kill again, but a confession of guilt doesn’t convince Mulder Wilczek is responsible and uncovers a plot by the government to use the super computer as a weapon.

A particularly lifeless episode, “Ghost in the Machine” offers a spectacular opening, but can’t follow through with its lackluster concept. The show would do much better with later episodes involving killer machinery and artificial intelligence, but the computer in “Ghost in the Machine” comes off as a dumbed down HAL-9000.

I've been obsessed with horror movies since I was two years old and staring wide-eyed at all the hypnotic VHS covers at the local video store.
